Rosa and Mark – Engagement Session from Chowchilla, CA.

For Rosa and Mark's engagement session, we met up just outside Chowchilla and made use of the rural country side.  We shot in orchards, used the palms lining Robertson Blvd., found a cool green field, and then this great young orchard overgrown with wildflowers.  This was also the first couple of mine to bust out the cowboy hats - yeeehaw! Aside from Mark (not me, the other guy!) getting stung by a bee, it was a sweet session! Here's a small selection of my favorites:

Katie and John – An Urban Engagement Session from Downtown Fresno

Getting back into the swing of things with new year and shooting the first engagement session of the season.  I'm doing the photography for Katie and John's wedding in late February so we got out and got their engagement session done just in time.  Found a few new locations that I haven't used before and had a great time on a gray morning, but we got lucky right at the end as the sun finally broke through for the finish. Here's a few of my favorites...

Samantha and Nicholas – Wedding Photography from the Golden Palace in Fresno, CA

Samantha and Nick were married at the Golden Palace on what turned out to be a beautiful day landing right in the middle of all these storms.  The Golden Palace was decked out spectacularly - especially the room they created for the ceremony with great light and draping.  You'll notice a little different look to some of my work as well.  Since the ceremony started right before sunset and because of Samantha and Nick's desire to not see each other before the wedding, a lot of the photography took place after dark.  A little added light and help from my assistant Adam got things going - a fun twist to start the wedding season! On a side note, this wedding was another

Big Things! Big Things! Hello Merrill Elizabeth Janzen!

So I’ve been quiet here for a few weeks and I thought I’d let y’all know why… Well, my wife Leslie and I had our second child on 12/21 named Merrill Elizabeth!  We’ve been having a blast getting to know her, and this week I’ve been easing my way back into work.  So here’s a little peak of the the Mark Janzen family v3.0 and a few pics of the newest addition.  Yes I took the family picture doing the whole self-timer thing…I really need to look into getting a remote for that camera! Enjoy! ***Make sure you click the “More” link below to see the rest of the photographs!***

Elena and Brett – An Engagement Session from Hornitos, CA

When I first met Elena she told me she and Brett wanted to shoot their engagement session in Hornitos, CA.  I had never heard of it, but it turns out there's a little ghost town in the foothills north of Mariposa.  It's not completely deserted, but there are several abandoned buildings that date back to the 1850's.  The location was VERY cool and I hope to go back sometime in the future - I love all the different textures and colors in that little town.  After spending some time in Hornitos, we went out onto Brett's ranch that sits next to the town and finished the session among the oaks and granite.  Below are a few of my favorites...

Heather and Ryan – A Wedding from the Big Red Church and San Joaquin Country Club

And to finish of the year, I bring you Heather and Ryan's wedding!  The ceremony took place at First Congregational in the Fresno High neighborhood - AKA "The Big Red Church" - with a fabulous reception designed by Cassandra of Weddings by Cassandra following at the beautiful San Joaquin Country club.  The whole thing was absolutely beautiful and Heather and Ryan were a blast to hang out with. Congrats guys, enjoy the highlights below.

Crystalynne and Nick – A Woodward Park Engagement Session

Woodward Park can be an absolutely stunning place if you catch it at just the right time - that time being a 3-4 week period in November when Fresno gets it's "3rd season".  You know, the other two seasons being "Hot" and "Fog".   :) This time around the lucky couple is Crystalynne and Nick.  They're getting married next August, but we shot their engagement session a couple days ago among the gorgeous fall color found in Woodward Park.  Below are a few of my favorites...enjoy!
