This is the first engagement session Craig Kohlruss has photographed for Mark Janzen Photography, and it was a great one! I was really jealous that I wasn't able to shoot it myself - it's not every day you get a session with horses - but Craig totally knocked it out of the park though, here are a few of my favorites from the session.
It's spring! So that means a lot of sessions in the hills as the great outdoors wakes up from it's winter nap. Lindsey is the sister of one of my former clients from a couple years ago - I was honored when I got a call from her as the biggest compliment I can receive is a family member or friend of a former client choosing me to document their day. As we get to the end of February it's time for the seasons to change and spring to return to the hills around Fresno. Yanadine and Visoth travelled all the way up here for their engagement session ahead of their wedding down in Long Beach at the end of the month. In spite of the very dry winter there were still a few displays of wildflowers around Millerton Lake with more surely to follow. This is another "new to me" location. After repeatedly driving through Friant on my way to many other places, I decided to meet Brie and Adrian in the town and shoot in that area. Once again, we were blessed with some remarkable light and made some great images. I hope you enjoy them!
I've known Heather and Matt for a few years now, as they both work at one of the nicest wedding venues in the area - Copper River Country Club. When I met Matt, we was one of the bartenders and now he runs the restaurant that makes all the fabulous food your guests enjoy. I always have a special place in my heart for the folks that make dinner happen! Heather's the one you talk to if you are looking to book an event at the club and she makes sure everything goes off without a hitch. It's always a highlight when I see their smiling faces on a wedding day, and I'm stoked to be the one to photograph their wedding

For Stacey and Adam's session we met out on Friant Rd and hit a couple different locations in the area - starting on the San Joaquin River Parkway. It was good times working with these two and their near-complete inability to remain serious at any time! Check out my favorites:
Taylor and I met up on a WINDY day to shoot her senior pictures. The wind was actually unbelievable - I don't think I've ever shot in anything that strong. But we made the best of it and got some sweet stuff. After all the fashion photographers pay a ton to buy wind machines, we just got ours for free!
Jamie and Chris will be getting married at Lake Tahoe in September and I will be there to document the day. This time around though, they were in town for the weekend so we took advantage of the time to get their engagement session in. We went to a location that is new for me. I have frequently driven down Friant and glanced towards the river and the trail that has been built along it - wondering how it would work for a session. I made the suggestion, and I'm glad they took me up on the offer - I love the results we got in spite of the gale force winds! Here are a few of my favorites:
