Maribell and Rick were the winners of the 9/10/11 sweepstakes, securing that date before all others! I was happy to make the trip to Visalia and shoot at St Mary's, a beautiful and historic church that I've long wanted to photograph. Following their ceremony, they had their reception at the Holiday Inn complete with Mariachis and a tequila toast.
Stephanie and Jon are the next in a string of really great couples that remind me of how great being a wedding photographer really is. Spending incredibly happy days, filled with joy, with warm-hearted and friendly people is a pleasure and an honor. Any wedding day in Yosemite is bound to be a beautiful one, and this day certainly didn't disappoint! Weekday weddings in the park are great as even in the summertime the crowds are smaller and it's pretty easy to get around the valley floor. Daniel and Yi-Hsing are new residents of New York by way of Japan, and on the way they had a little wedding under the apple tree on the Ahwahnee Hotel's Wedding Lawn. Marissa and Geoff were married on a beautiful, warm day in Yosemite National Park. After getting ready and having a tea ceremony at a cabin in the Yosemite West development we all rode together down into the valley, navigating some epic summertime weekend traffic! Then it was time for the ceremony underneath the old apple tree on the Ahwahnee Hotel's Wedding Lawn. I'm so excited to be able to shoot 5 different weddings in Yosemite this summer and fall, it's an amazing place! Enjoy a few of my favorite images from the day...
Oh yeah, middle of August, the Central Valley, outdoor wedding...you know where this is going, right? So it was hot, really hot, but Jennifer and Norman are two incredibly good natured people and a little heat wasn't going to stop them from having a blast. We didn't spend as much time running around the park as we might on a cooler day, but from what I could tell everyone had a fabulous time! I have a pretty cool job, for sure, but its coolness reaches a whole new level when I get to "work" in Yosemite. It's still unreal to me when I arrive that I'm so fortunate to be trusted with photographing a couple's wedding and to top it off I get to do it in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. Straight to you from a hot July day in the Central Valley, here's Jenni and Scott's wedding! Fig Garden Swim and Racquet Club is hands down one of my favorite local venues. It's not as sprawling as some, like Wolf Lakes or Holland Park West, but what it lacks in spaciousness, it makes up for in vibe. It's really the closest you can get to having a "backyard wedding" without actually using a backyard. On top of that, this particular backyard can hold a few hundred of your closest family and friends. Anyway, enough about all that, take a minute and look up above at some of my favorite images from the day...
Kristen and Spenser are from Fresno and Oklahoma respectively but they met down in Riverside so when they decided to get married, they landed on the beautiful Falkner Winery in nearby Temecula, CA. I don't travel often for weddings, but I love the opportunity to do so a few times each year to break up the regular flow of local weddings and this wedding certainly disappoint. We were blessed with a beautiful day, just a touch on the windy side, but the light was amazing and it wasn't too hot or too cold which is really all you can ask for in late June. Take a minute and look through some of my favorite images from the day.
Erika and Craig are one of those couples that are just a joy to photograph. Erika is a complete ham and just seems to be having an amazing time ALL the time and Craig is just this laid back guy totally happy to be along for the ride. It was a nice warm day that wasn't nearly as hot as it was supposed to be, with some great light just in time for the couple's portraits, and we just made it in time for a really cool portrait at dusk just before we lost all the color in the sky. And then there was the dance floor...I can't really put that into words, you'll have to look at the pictures. Enjoy!
